Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Plowshare!

Please review the descriptions below to discover which of our many volunteer opportunities are the best fit for your interests, abilities, and schedule.

Off-site Sales: Off-sites may be held in a building (i.e. a school or a church) or at an outdoor venue (i.e. a night market or music festival). They offer us an opportunity to expand our presence in Waukesha and beyond, to help people learn about Fair Trade and the store, and to make sales to customers beyond our storefront.
Time Commitment: Varies. Offsites may be on weekdays or weekends, in the evening or during the day.
Physical Requirements: Volunteers will set up product displays and sometimes tables, though these may be smaller. If the event is indoors, setting up a tent is unnecessary.

In-Store Events: Volunteers help during in-store events by socializing with customers, helping educate and answer questions, and to be another set of eyes in the shop. Time Commitment: The hours are flexible depending on the event hours, weather and store traffic but typically shifts are 2 to 3 hours.

Committees: Different volunteer-run committees assist with Plowshare’s mission & operations.

Education: Plowshare brings educational events to Waukesha by finding and arranging speakers, films and events for the public to attend. This committee also co-sponsors and partners with other groups who host peace and justice speakers/films/events. On the date of the event, members assist attendees, do counts of attendees and distribute & collect surveys.

Fundraising: Plowshare has 2 annual fundraisers: The spring Peacebuilder Awards and a fall Fair Trade Fundraiser. We can always use Planning Committee Members, as well as people to attain Sponsors and Silent Auction items. We have been having virtual events since the pandemic, but hope to go back to live events at some point.

Technology/Media: This group finds solutions for Plowshare’s technology needs, including: database design/management, video/photography for marketing, online sales/website solutions, and internet/phone services. Advertising, media, and marketing are also addressed.

Speakers Bureau: This group creates content for and personally presents Fair Trade information to churches, school groups and service organizations.

Board of Directors: As a nonprofit organization, Plowshare is run by a Volunteer based Board of Directors. A Board term is 3 years.

These events are a vital part of Plowshare’s business plan, so feel free to sign up for as many shifts as your abilities and schedule allow. Please consider trying a few different events or committees to see which one may suit you best.

If you require accessibility or other accommodations, please let us know and do not hesitate to contact us with any questions. Plowshare relies on volunteers to make our nonprofit a success.

Thank you so much for your interest!
